Got this in the mail the other day from stephie poo. What has the fashion world become. This is from the condom fashion show held in Beijing. Curiousity got the better of me, so I ended up googling it to see what the hell this was all about.

Apparently the exhibiton of the latex wedding gowns, evening dresses, bikinis and all the other garments on World Population Day (11th July) was to promote prophylactic use of condoms in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

This would be considered the first ever fashion show of its kind. Models were decked out in these condom coutures held at the Fourth China Reproductive Health New Technologies and Products Expo, sponsored by China's largest condom manufacturer, Guilin Latex Factory.



Creative, but very bizarre. I still have my doubts on how realistic this can be. I mean like, please literally wear condoms people! ;P

If you still havent heard of the cervical cancer vaccine, you better listen carefully now.

"There is great news for young women and girls in Australia - a new vaccine that can protect them against the cause of most cervical cancers. The vaccine protects women against certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV), which are known to cause 7 out of 10 cases of cervical cancer and 9 out of 10 cases of genital warts.Starting in April 2007, the Australian Government will be providing the new vaccine free to all women and girls aged between 12 and 26 through the National HPV Vaccination Program.

The vaccine works by immunising women against certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV) that are known to cause 7 out of 10 cervical cancers. The vaccine also guards against the strains of HPV that cause 9 out of 10 cases of genital warts.HPV is very common – it affects men and women, and 4 out of 5 people will have it at some point in their lifetime. The virus lives on the skin, so it can be spread through intimate skin-to-skin contact. That means women can still get it even if they practice safe sex, or only ever have one sexual partner. Usually the body clears the virus by itself but in some cases cervical cancer can develop.

If you are under 27, you can participate in the National HPV Vaccination Program. From July 2007 to June 2009, you can get the vaccine free from your local GP or community immunisation clinic. Even if you are already sexually active, speak to your GP about getting immunised. You may still benefit from the vaccine because there is still a good chance you have not yet been exposed to the specific HPV types that can cause cervical cancer. Unfortunately, the vaccine doesn’t prevent all cervical cancers. That’s why it’s still very important for all women to keep up to date with regular Pap smears."

Go visit your nearest doctor now while it's free and before it's too late! I've just booked mine in for a vaccination shot next saturday with ashley. Do pass on the good news to all your loved ones and make sure they don't procrastinate. :)

Market Square Burnt

I can't believe most of Market Square has been burnt down! I got the news when I heard my phone beeped, it was a message from cherry asking me if I wanted to start a new business with her, hahaha. Damn! Sunnybank's never gonna be the same again without Market Square on the go! And like what Sally has said, where's the crowd gonna head to next? What a shocker. Aw, looks like things are gonna be diff if I head back to brissie. ;(

Here's a video uploaded in youtube I got from Ruby, whoa that was quick. I think one of her friends was armed with a cam. Looks like the fire started from Yuen's, then spreaded across the whole strip. Hope no one was harmed.

Steve Irwin killed in freak accident

Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin is dead after being attacked by a stingray on the Great Barrier Reef during the filming of a new TV series.

The 44-year-old's heart is believed to have been pierced by the stingray barb.
He was filming an underwater documentary at Batt Reef near the Low Isles about 32 nautical miles off Port Douglas when the accident occurred.

According to a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman, a Cairns ambulance chopper made an emergency flight to an island in the area just after 11am today.

An intensive care doctor and a paramedic attempted to treat the popular crocodile wrangler – who had a puncture wound in the left side of his chest - without success.
He was pronounced dead on the island, and his body is now being flown to Cairns.Irwin - known worldwide as the Crocodile Hunter - is famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchcry "Crikey!".

He's also starred in movies and has developed the Australia Zoo wildlife park, north of Brisbane, which was started by his parents Bob and Lyn Irwin.
Irwin and his wife Terri have two children: a daughter, Bindi Sue Irwin, eight, and a son, Robert (Bob) Clarence Irwin, three.

Bob was involved in a controversial incident in January, 2004, when his father dangled him near a crocodile at Australia Zoo.

Child welfare and animal rights groups criticised his actions as irresponsible and tantamount to child abuse.

Irwin said any danger to his son was only a perceived danger and that he was in complete control of the situation.

In June 2004, Irwin came under fire again when it was alleged he came too close to and disturbed some whales, seals and penguins while filming a documentary in Antarctica.
Interacting with Antarctic wildlife in a disapproved manner may be a breach of Australian federal and international laws. But the issue ended without charges being filed.

Irwin had close links with Prime Minister John Howard and was a guest at The Lodge during a function for US President George W Bush in 2003.

Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, who used a photograph of his family at Australia Zoo for his official Christmas card last year, hailed Mr Irwin for his work in promoting Australia.
Irwin was heavily involved in last year's "G'Day LA" campaign.

"The minister knew him, was fond of him and was very, very appreciative of all the work he'd done to promote Australia overseas," a spokesman said.

Irwin also championed many environmental projects.

These included the Steve Irwin Conservation Foundation, and International Crocodile Rescue.
