Glowworms Cave
Hey, look who's here.. I'm back! I know I haven't been blogging in ages but I tell you, all that time away ain't no vacation! I've just finished another semester approximately three weeks ago and now what? Uni begins on Tuesday, already. Argh! No i shall not whinge.. *shuts up* Before I forget,
Happy New Year Peeps!
Lets hope that our new year will be a successful and fun-filled one. Hope you guys can stick with your new years resolution! I'm gonna have to try sticking to mine, which would be to study harder and get over and done with my last year of uni.. that is if I don’t fail though. >.< I will not bludge, no no, I mean I will try not to bludge no more!
I spent Christmas at the Gold Coast with my boi and a couple of friends. It was a three nights and four days stay, low key but relaxing tee hee. We kinda spent every night drinking in the hotel, then going to the beach, Dream World and walking around surfer's paradise in the day.
Oooh, let me tell you my experience to the glowworms cave..
One night, while all of us were drinking, one of my friends decided that we should go pay a visit to the glowworms cave. We were all tipsy and tired by then, but the idea was rather tempting, so we left quickly before one of us could have a chance to change our mind. The trip there took about an hour. Throughout the whole hour's ride, we all took turns telling ghost stories.
One of my friends mentioned that we shouldn't look out of the window while driving to the cave as it has been told that people who did saw things they didn’t want to see. Another one talked about how there was this tourist who slipped and fell, hitting his head on one of the rocks in the pond in the glowworm cave. As there weren’t any other visitors, he died there due to excess loss of blood. This never got to the news as they did not want to scare people away from the cave, thus it has now been said that the dead tourist now haunts the place and tugs at people's ankles to pull them into the pond if they stood at a same spot for too long to take his place.
I shivered listening to all the stories that were being told. I know there was a possibility that some of them were trying to bullshit me but I couldn’t help being such a scaredy cat.. hey not my fault, I was tipsy therefore feeling vulnerable. Once we reached the place, the guys whipped out their torches and we proceeded on our way to the cave.
There was this twenty minutes walk we had to go through in order to reach the cave. The sky was pitch dark, and the pathway to the caves was extremely narrow.. the place was like a forest! We huddled together walking cautiously down steep slopes. The eerie sounds of the crickets and birds weren’t much help in calming my nerves. I jolted every time I heard a rustle, squeezing my boyfriend’s hand tightly as we walked.
One of my friends was being really sweet to me, warning me not to look back as I walked for fear that I might see some very “nice” looking spirits around. We finally reached the cave, but we were all so disappointed to see how small the cave was! The glow worms looked really beautiful, but I couldn’t stop bugging my boyfriend to piggyback or carry me so that no one can grab me by my ankles :P
I was contemplating whether I should take pictures since it was such a long journey down to the caves, but one of my friends decided for me knowing how much I liked taking pictures. “Eh, are you sure you’re gonna take pictures? You don’t want to see an extra person there in your screen instead of just the glow worms!” Instantaneously, my hand automatically threw the camera into my bag and I grabbed onto my boyfriend dying to leave as soon as possible. After they decided that they’ve had enough of ogling at the glowworms and trying to touch the glowworms to feel how they were physically like, we finally left and went on our way back home to the hotel.
Boy was I so glad to see light after our ride back to the city. Why cant they have street lights on the way to the cave?! I was happy that I’ve been to the glowworm caves but I’m positive I’d never want to go back there again!
