Queenstown - Minus 5 Ice Bar
There are alotta variety of bars in Queenstown, but they are all mainly smaller in comparison. There are the bustling backpacker drinking havens, dance clubs, quite a few sophisticated wine and cocktail bars, local pubs, and those in the casino and sport bars.
The first place we decided to head to for some drinks was at Minus 5 Ice Bar after seeing the ad in the know&go information book. We had to make bookings beforehand as it is abit of a tour-like session where only maximum 25 people get to go in for about half an hour.
We booked ours for 10.30pm which was the latest session then, and when we arrived we were given thick jackets and gloves to put on. We ordered the tour and two cocktails combo for each of us which cost us $35 each. There we patiently waited for the others to arrive and then soon enough, we were all taken to another entrance to get to the bar.
The bar tender for the night explained and gave us information before we were allowed in. The bar was like in a freezer and everything in there is completely produced from ice. The walls, sculptures, seats and even the glasses we drank from were made out of ice. Hahaha, it's literally cool man. The ice carved sculptures are so pretty! I absolutely love the unicorn one! No sign of any pig sculptures though. -_-" Yeah, me and my pig obsession haha. The temperature in there as told is around -10 to -5 degrees.
Their cocktails are all vodka based. I had frozen kiwi and arctic ice, while bigbadwolf ordered the snowflake and iceberg cocktails. The frozen kiwi was yumyum, I loved it heaps. We had to hold the glasses with both hands otherwise they were kinda slippery. Then before we headed out we get to thrash our glasses into the bin and watch it break into pieces hahaha.
There were all kinds of people at ther bar. I met this friendly indian couple who was having their honeymoon in Queenstown. Then there were the hen's party group of girls with their glittering crowns. Everyone was busy taking pictures, a few danced, and left after they finished their drinks. We stayed for longer than half an hour, and it's great how they don't try to shoo you out at exactly half an hour. They just let you finish at your own pace, taking photos, relaxing and finishing your drinks, then leave when you're ready to go.
Awesome awesome. We had to wait quite abit for the drinks though as there was only one bar tender. Towards the end of the night, she asked if we wanted to go behind the bar to have a picture taken, and we were definitely delighted to hahaha. The iridescent lighting colours made the whole bar look so pretty. It is alot smaller compared to what we had in mind though.
After our experience at Minus 5 ice bar, we headed off to check out the other bars and clubs. We ended up at The World, one of the most famous bars in Queenstown for tourists and backpackers, reason being that it was alot more packed and had more atmosphere hehehe. It feels abit like Down Under to me, beer was about $4.70 each. The music was pretty crap to me although all the westerners seem to love it. One thing we noticed is that the people there are very rowdy and crazy. Alot rougher than our usual pissed clubbers.
Okie dokes, here are some visual inputs so you get to see how it was like that night, enjoy!

Wee, getting excited!

Look at my jacket, mine's Absolut Raspberri! Our first step into the bar and I was already taking pictures. shy.

Lovely ice sculptures. Don't you love the unicorn as well? :p

Bigbadwolf and I sitting on the chairs carved from ice. Bum freeze!

Purple, yen's purple murple favourite colour grins.

Bubs ordering the alco while I click away. Look at the bar, ice ice baby!

Unicorn, do you love me too?

Her majesty. All bow down heh heh heh. :p

Cheers. Check out the glasses.

On for our second drink. Weeee. I had to keep trying not to get my lv bag wet! Kinda hard when everythings made of ice eh -_-" Everything you touch would eventually make your gloves damp. Not much damage done though phew. :P Camera was sticky by the end of the night though haha.

Bigbadwolf & devilishaz.

My bloody drink hehehe. Bigbadwolf eating his glass.

He is trying to show me the bite he took off the glass. I promptly told him how many people have touched it and how the bar tender grabbed it nonchantly from the shelf with all the germs in her gloves and he shut my mouth before I could continue any further.

Us at the bar. This one's at The World Club. It got really packed later.

Booboo. The bar. Headed home after we had enough beers, I had a very good night!
